It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Unless you have no idea what Christmas gifts to give! We all have those friends and family who we love, but man they are hard to shop for! No worries, I have your back on this one!
Why not give the gift of learning and self-reliance? Or give gifts that will make things a little easier for those backyard gardeners or homesteaders that have already begun their journey!
This is my comprehensive Amazon gift guide! I do most of my Christmas shopping on Amazon, especially this year. (Thanks a lot 2020!) I have to note here that while I am an Amazon affiliate, I would never share a product/brand that I didn’t truly believe in or that I didn’t already have on my own personal wish list, in my cart, or on it’s way in a box!
If you do happen to purchase an item from this list and use any of the links provided, as an Amazon affiliate I may receive a small commission. Those commissions help me keep this blog up and running and bringing you the best content possible.
Ok enough of all that… let’s get shopping!
The Prairie Homestead Cookbook
I am totally OBSESSED with this cute gal! She has so many AMAZING recipes, and ideas about getting back to our roots and cooking the old fashioned way! My family can attest, my cooking has definitely leveled up since finding this cookbook and all of Jill’s resources on her website! This is the perfect gift for almost everyone on your list!
We go thru this stuff like crazy! Especially during the winter! Our hands get so dry from being outside so much and washing constantly! We LOVE this stuff! In fact, I think Eric will be getting this giftbox for Christmas! I know he will love it and use it… and so will I! Selfish gift! This would be great to give Parents and Grandparents!
I DO NOT have one of these yet, but this is one I want for Christmas! I want to learn to dehydrate foods as well as freeze dry them eventually! This would be a good starter since it is so affordable and has good reviews!
You just can’t beat these! I LOVE mine! They keep their shape really well, they are comfortable, come in lots of colors, and even though they say they are “men’s” I like how they fit me also!
Homestead Books
In all the Homesteading groups I’m in on Facebook, these two books get recommended the most!
The Backyard Homestead Farm Animals
I have my copies on the way and I can’t wait to dive into them, especially now that we have our sweet little Annabelle (mini jersey cow) on the homestead.
Garden Supplies
For those who want to garden or already do, these are some great options! Even though its winter, I’m still excited and planning for next year! The thought of my garden this spring is surely getting me through this winter!
I have been learning so much about composting. It is fascinating! Now would be a great time to learn and start making compost to be ready for the spring. My mother in law has a composter like this one and really likes it!
Buckets, buckets, and more buckets!
You can never go wrong with feed buckets! We use them so much and could NEVER have too many! We use them in the garden and for the animals. A new feed bucket may seem like a boring gift, but trust me… when you go through a million of these a year it’s much appreciated! Load it full of other things and make it into a cute “gift bucket” I promise you can’t go wrong here!
I use my AirPods…. Constantly! I love being able to listen to podcast, books, my scriptures, call my grandma… All while I’m cooking or doing chores! They are on for a great price right now! If your on the fence, GO FOR IT! You wont regret it!
I am so tired of ruining my “good jeans” so I will be asking for a pair of these overalls from Santa! They will make my outside chores so much easier! Lots of pockets, your pants wont fall down, and your nice clothes stay nice! That’s a win in my book! These also come in men’s and kid’s as well. I love the Carhartt brand. Everything is so well made and last so long! That’s why I don’t mind spending a little more money for such good quality!
Carhartt Coats
Speaking of Carhartt quality, Eric and I both LOVE our Carhartt coats! In fact we have had the same ones for about 12 years! They just hold up so well! It’s so nice to throw one on to go feed animals and not worry about getting our clothes dirty. They are heavy enough to keep us warm without being restricting.
Sourdough Supplies
Give the gift that keeps on giving with Sourdough! If you live locally (Utah) I would be more than happy to give you a start of my starter, “Big Rona” (All starters have to have their own name!) If you don’t live around these parts, ask around! You might be surprised to find a neighbor or a friend who has a start that could share with you. If all else fails you can buy a start on Amazon or Etsy. Or if your really feeling ambitious you can start your own at home. It really isn’t too hard and there are lots of resources out there. I really like the book “The Art of Baking with Natural Yeast”, it was such a helpful resource for me when I started out. It would be such an awesome gift to give a start and some supplies to help someone you love learn to make bread on their own and not need store bought yeast.
Canning Equipment
My canning adventures began with the gift of a water bath canner for Christmas several years ago! I have LOVED learning to can my own food! If you have a family member who is wanting to be more self reliant or has a garden… this is an awesome gift! For a newbie I recommend starting out with the water bath canning method. If you have a seasoned canner in the fam, a pressure canner might just be the ticket!
Crochet Supplies
Crochet and knitting are slowly becoming forgotten skills. It’s such a useful skill to know, and not to mention really fun! This would be a great idea for a picky tween or teen! I don’t have this exact set, but I like that it comes with all the hooks you need to get started as well as a book with instructions and patterns.
